Sunlit Water

I left Reno yesterday morning and was able to cross the Sierras on I-80 with no trouble at all.  I stopped for lunch in Sacramento then headed straight to Santa Cruz, where I met my friend and went out to dinner and then to a bar, with no chance to post an update on my travels (sorry about that).  I’ll be pretty busy while I’m here, so I don’t think I’ll be able to post regular updates, but I’m not going to be doing a whole lot anyway, so there won’t be much to report.  Santa Cruz is kind of an interesting place, and the UCSC campus is beautiful.  I may take some pictures if I have time.

  1. I just this moment realized what the voice in these updates sounds like. Did you ever read the Henry Reed books by Keith Robertson? It’s a pretty startling resemblance, IIRC.

  2. I am so out of sorts right now I didn’t even realize you missed a day. Between the time difference and switching to a Sunday-Thursday week, I am confused pretty much all the time. Did you have lunch in Sacramento with your friend? I hope you’re having fun being busy not doing anything. I hope you take some pictures! You could even take some with people in them and put them on facebook! Since I put up the DC pictures I’ve been battling with my internet to put up the Philadelphia and Baltimore ones. Once I get this all taken care of there will be Israel photos. At least other people are putting them up so there is proof that I am here! I’m not sure I really believe you are in Santa Cruz. I was going to stop rambling at this point but I thought I’d tell you the big news. My roommate came last night! She’s a grad student at DU, she’s from DC and she’s pretty cool. OK, I’ll send you a real email update or something soon.

  4. Glad you made it. Should have thought to see no problem getting over the Sierra if you are willing to wait an extra day or two if there is a big storm.
