It Means “Churches,” You Know

Despite the skewed picture of the issue one might get from depending too much on the blogosphere for information, it’s actually David rather than Matt whose name is spelled according to modern Spanish orthographic conventions.  As for the electoral angle here, I suspect Domenici would just not run for a seventh term in 2008 if the scandal starts to damage his reputation.  Last I heard rumor had it he was intending to run again, but being plagued by scandal (assuming this takes hold, of course) would obviously change things for him.  Heather, I think, is in a much worse position.  She’s won every race she’s run by razor-thin margins against unimpressive opponents, and this could well be just enough to finally make her fall short.  Ironically, she had been considered the most likely GOP candidate for Domenici’s seat if he stepped down in 2008.  That doesn’t look too likely anymore.

  1. From this story:

Dendahl wound up receiving little support from the state party and stumbled to a historic defeat, then left the state with a less-than-generous benediction.

I am so wondering what “less-than-generous benediction” means.

  2. I kind of love Dave Cargo, even if he is a Republican. Also note that the highest-profile Republican in the state after Domenici and Wilson is a county sheriff.

  3. The “less-than-generous-benediction” was a screed about how the state is massively corrupt and that’s how the voters like it. Not surprising from a guy who lost the governor’s race by the largest margin ever.

  4. “Look at this everyone, twelve dead snakes.”
    [crowd boos him]
“I’m sick of you people. You’re nothing but a bunch of fickle mush heads.”
Townspeople: “He’s right!””Give us hell, Quimby!”
