Pretty easily, too. It turned out that the fact that my previous license had expired didn’t matter at all. It only took about an hour, and I didn’t have to take the test.
So now that’s out of the way, which is a big relief.

Yay! When I moved to CA and had to get a new license, they made me take the test. AND I FAILED! You could only get three wrong and I got four wrong. So they guy looked at me sideways and read one of the wrong questions out loud and then looked at me hard for the answer. When I gave him the right answer this time, he said, “I thought that’s what you meant,” and he changed the answer and passed me.
This taught me that 1) the CA DMV is WAAAAAAAAY cooler than the VA DMV and 2) that even smart people who know how to drive sometimes fail written driving tests.
But the point is, I’m glad you got your license and that it was easy.
