Five Things

Filed under: Personal — by teofilo @ 2:15 am

It seems I’m expected to tell you five things you don’t know about me.  This is where my obsessive secrecy actually comes in handy; although I’ve revealed a lot about myself in various places on the internet, I’ve kept many things secret for no particular reason.  So here we go:

  1. I have Gilbert’s Syndrome.
  2. I’ve been published in Common-place.
  3. My great-grandfather was once Grandmaster of Masons in New Mexico
  4. I own the entire 50-volume set of the Harvard Classics (passed down from that same great-grandfather)
  5. When I was little I used to get together with my Navajo friends and act out the Trojan War

I tag dagger aleph, Stanley, Matt F, eb, and Macarena.

  1. I have Gilbert’s, too! How neat! For me and my dad, it just means that drinking can be Russian Roulette. On a completely random schedule, I’ll drink and get way way too drunk off very little, and spend the whole next day barely ambulatory with my head in the toilet. It is not fun, but it goes in tides. Right now, I seem to be able to drink if I want, but there are seasons when I barely can at all.

  2. Good thing that description started off with “harmless condition”, so I didn’t have long to worry. Getting unpredictable amounts of drunk might add some excitement to your parties.

  3. [...] Teo has tagged me with a meme that asks you to list five things no one knows about you. It was somewhat difficult to think of five things (that I’d feel comfortable putting out there on the internet), but here’s what I came up with: [...]

  4. I haven’t noticed any effects on my tolerance for alcohol, but then I’m not much of a drinker. It could well be that they’re there and I just haven’t been paying attention.

  5. I don’t know where Bear gets the alcohol connection—I would have thought the article would have mentioned that, and in Britain too.

  6. I assume she’s just extrapolating from her own experience; my doctor didn’t say anything to me about alcohol when I was diagnosed.

  7. That page, whose heading is “Diseases of the Liver,” nevertheless ends with: It is important for the patient to understand that Gilbert’s syndrome is not a disease.

    What did you publish?

    Have you read Don Quijote?

Five things about me? You had your chance.

  8. Wow, that’s no good without the intended link for “chance.”

  9. It was my post “Ask me anything.”

  10. I read this post on my Sidekick and couldn’t get the Gilbert’s link to work so I was left a-wondering until I could get to my computer to check it out. Glad it’s nothing serious!

  11. I’d rather not say what I published, but it’s under my real name and googling will bring it up. I have not read Don Quijote, but I’ve been planning to for years.

  12. Assignment completed, Mr. Filo.
